LibAgent's new server
During the summer of 2001, LibAgent has received a second
machine as a donation from the
Computer Science
Department of the Technion. This much improved machine was
finally put into production and replaced the aging server we
were given by the same department in 1999. We wish to once
again thank the department, and particularly the dean,
Prof. Shlomo Moran and the system engineering team, led by
Mrs. Yael Dubinsky, for their support of LibAgent.
So, what is this server?
LibAgent's new server is a 350MHz Pentium II machine with 128MB
of RAM, and two hard disks (a 4.3GB Western Digital disk, and a
6.4GB Seagate disk). We also have our older server, an old
133MHz Pentium with 32MB of RAM and two 1.2GB disks, as a backup
server and development environment. Now that we have two
machines we can much more easily test new software features we
wish to implement, without disrupting our normal services.
LibAgent's machines are powered by
FreeBSD, and these pages are
served to you curtesy of the
Apache web server. Emails are
processed by
Postfix,
and DNS services are provided by
BIND. We use the
PostgreSQL database
management system to keep track of our users' records.
